Simon Egenfeldt-Nielsen at the European Conference on Games Based Learning (ECGBL) 2024 at Aarhus University, Denmark

Simon (CEO of Serious Games Interactive - SGI) was at ECGBL at Aarhus University in Oct 2024, and got a lot insights from a vast variety of researchers from around the world, and also shared some of the work we have been doing in the GREAT research project. It was particular interesting to see a larger focus on blended game formats and virtual escape rooms that fits very well with the abilities that SGI also offers in the DiBL platform. As always one of the tricky challenges in game-based learning is how to move from innovation projects towards a more integrated seamless part of daily educational practice. This is also the focus of DiBL, and we hope that people in the future will realize that often when thinking about game-based learning in classrooms, less is actually more. 🎳 A small virtual role-play, simple virtual escape room, or co-op quiz, where attention and interaction happens more in the room between people and less between people and the screen.📰 You can find the conference proceedings as a free download here if you are curious. The first 2 papers are published as part of the GREAT project. Papers 3 and 4 are co-authored by our project associate partner in South Africa – Prof. Lance Bunt.
